It’s with great sadness that we remember our friend and colleague, Matt Sharp, who lost his battle with leukaemia in late 2017.

Matt began working with us in 2011, starting with the company as a modern apprentice and then training on the job while also attending University. He immediately showed promise, acting with a quiet confidence and competence; he quickly became a respected member of the team and progressed rapidly through his training.

Matt was never one to get fazed or flustered by a challenge. Indeed, to onlookers he could have just as easily been strolling along an exotic beach somewhere, rather than tackling complex engineering tasks. He was at home in his role and always carried out his duties to an exemplary technical and professional standard.

He made many close friends within the team, who would regularly play golf together. A friendly and good-natured person, Matt always had a bit of banter with his colleagues and everyone’s working day was better off for it.

Matt lost his last battle in late 2017, and he will be forever remembered by the team at AFT Fluorotec as one of the most promising young engineers we have ever had the pleasure to work alongside.

All the team here are heartbroken and we would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to Matt’s family and friends at this difficult time.
